III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection of the Seneca II Mine conducted by Harry Ranney of the DMG.
Aerial photographs were taken on January 19, 2005 at approximately 11:08 a.m. Mike Boulay of
the DMG reviewed the aerial photographs. Weather conditions were cleaz and sunny at the time
of the flight. The majority of the mine site was snow covered.
Roads
Access roads to the office and shop/wazehouse areas and the County Road up to the Wadge
Impoundment were plowed and cleaz of snow. All other mine site access roads appeaz to be
snow packed and inaccessible throughout the site. With the exception of the office and
shop/wazehouse there was no activity noted at the time of the flight.
Hydrolo¢ic Balance
All of the site sedimentation ponds were visible in the photos including Ponds 002, 003, 004,
008, the PECOCO Pond and the Truck Wash Holding Pond. All of these sedimentation ponds
were retaining water, but it was not evident in the photographs whether or not any of the
sedimentation ponds were dischazging. They were all snow covered and appeaz frozen at the
surface. Pond inlets and embankments appear to be stable and no problems were noted at any of
the pond locations.
Sunnort Facilities
The shop and wazehouse areas were viewed. These locations had been cleared of snow. From
the photos, these facilities and perimeter azeas appeaz to be well maintained and no problems
were noted with this aerial inspection.
