According to Mr. Lewis, due to some mix up with <br />the survey markers in the area, ore was placed in this unlined area measuring approximately <br />ten feet in height. Mr lewis discovered the area and requested the area to be excavated to <br />make sure the area was lined .Once ore was removed and placed on to the Leach pad, it indeed <br />was discovered that the area was not lined. After removal of ore, the soil below was sampled <br />to make sure no leachate had contaminated the soil. Mr. Lewis stated that the operator plans <br />to place soil liner fill and geomembrane in the area but not ore as it is not approved for <br />such in either Amendment #6 or #7. He also stated that CC&V plans to place a small concrete <br />laden sump above this area for storm water control for the Load out bin area. Since no <br />solution was applied in the area, and if the lab results confirm this, the Division will not <br />object to the planned remediation work.
