III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the <br />inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or <br />evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was an aerial inspection of the Marr Mine Strip Mine conducted by Harry Ramsey of the <br />DMG. Aerial photographs were taken on February 7, 2003. The aerial photographs were <br />reviewed by Mike Boulay of the DMG. Weather conditions were cleaz and sunny at the time of <br />the flight. With the exception of some south facing slopes, the mine site was snow covered. <br />Hydrologic Balance <br />Sedimentation Ponds A, B, C, D, and G aze visible in the photos. The water levels appeaz to be <br />low in each of these ponds. The ponds aze snow covered and frozen at the surface. Pond <br />embankments appeaz to be stable and no problems were noted at any of the pond locations. <br />Support Facilities <br />The light use road accessing the shop/warehouse azea was mostly snow packed. The shop and <br />warehouse area was viewed. This location had not been cleazed of snow. There was no activity <br />noted at the site at the time of the flight. From the photos, these facilities and perimeter azeas <br />appeaz to be well maintained and no problems were noted with this aerial inspection. <br />
