MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-~Q9n-~~~
INSPEC71ON DATE: Septemhe~ 5.2002 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: nR9
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine inspection conducted by David Bird of DRMS. Owner and operator Ricky Mitchell was
present during the inspection. The site is located in Adams County, about % mile east of Bennett, on land
owned by Mr. Mitchell. The site is immediately adjacent to the Mitchell Pit site (M-1987-023), also owned and
operated by Ricky Mitchell, which was last inspected 28 April 2004.
Material mined at this site consists of alluvial sand and gravel of the Kiowa Creek drainage. Kiowa Creek at this
location is ephemeral and was dry at the time of the inspection. The product is excavated by front loader and
hauled by truck off site. No processing of material is done on site -only excavation. The only equipment on site
was a front loader and a Bobcat. There has been minimal disturbance on this permitted site since the annual
report was filed in February because of slow market conditions, according to operator. No standing water was
visible anywhere on site, so excavation is thus for apparently maintaining above the water table.
The entrance to the site is marked with a sign indicating private property, but is not compliant with DRMS Rule
3.1.12. Otherwise, no problems were observed. There was no evidence of geotechnical instability observed on
mine highwalls or slopes, and no evidence of erosional damage or instability. Noxious weeds are present but
not in excessive amounts.
To avoid confusion, DRMS recommends bringing the entrance sign into compliance with DRMS Rule 3.1.12.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Rickv Mitchell
OPERATOR: Ricky Mitchell
STREET: P n Rc,Y In
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Rannatts'O 80109
cc: r CE
r BL
r FS
r HW
r HMWMD (CH)
r SE
r WQCD (CH)
r OTHER
