(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2007-025
INSPECTION DATE: 5-31-07 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal program established by the Colorado Division ofReclamation,
Mining and Safety for permit applications. The Whiting Pit is a proposed 112c operation being permitted by Delta
County. Mr. Mike Ripp and several Delta County Road and Bridge personnel were on site for the inspection.
The required notice had been posted at the west entrance to Phase 1. The plywood was still noted at the entrance but
the notice had been dislocated. Under the Rules this is not an issue. Proposed boundaries currently are fence lines
and other distinguishable features. The only area of concern is a small triangle of land between Phase 1 and 2 that
will need to marked very cleazly to prevent off site damage.
The area in question is a leveled off mesa top located east of the town of Delta at approximately 1900 and G Roads.
Vegetation is sparse and primarily cheatgrass, annual wheat grasses and some four winged saltbush. A few small
barrel cacti were noted as well. The azea was the site of a landing strip back in the 40's which has had an impact on
the area as it was graded and stripped of vegetation for sometime.
Within the Mining Plan text it is noted that topsoil and overburden will be stored in the existing ravine. The ravine
is clearly an erosional feature dedicated to the area in question only. Observations of the ravine note very flat areas
at the bottom that will be ideal for the storage of the is/ob with minimal impacts to the surrounding area.
A concrete pad and water line for a stock tank are noted on the maps and at the site. Discussions note that the
waterline is to be extended to the north as part of the final reclamation for the adjacent landowner. Within the
adequacy review, the Division will ask for clarification and documentation of the agreement between the parties.
Other than cheatgrass, no noxious or problematic weeds are noted at this time.
There appears to be no issues or problems at the site at this time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3`d Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no.
970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Leroy Black
OPERATOR: Delta County
STREET: 501 Palmer St. Suite 227
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Delta, CO 81416
cc:
X CE: MVR Resources
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
