• (Page 3) •
MINE ID ~ OR PROSPECTING ID # M-78-168
INSPECTION DATE 12 1
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ~~'R
OBSERVATIONS
Processing ~f previously mined material was occurring at the time of the inspection. A rubber tired loader was
removing material from stockpiles to the screen plant for processing. No mining was occurring, and apparently
no more will occur until mid-1997.
The originally mined highwall is located on the north margin of the pit. This area has been sloped to a 3H:1 V
configuration, and covered with the sandy topsoil found in this area. No reclamation species were observed
on this sloFe, which does exhibit a fair amount of annual weeds. Very minor rill development was observed,
however as the backwall slopes into the active pit area, no off site sedimentation is anticipated. It is suggested
that, if this area was not previously seeded, seeding and mulching be undertaken as soon as appropriate.
Active mining is advancing to the east along a highwall which is sloped to about 2H:1 V for an estimated 75%
of its length. The remainder of the wall approaches vertical. The mined thickness appears to approach 60 feet.
A large qu.mtity of fine grained topsoil is stockpiled east of the highwall on top of the mesa being mined. This
material is removed to the pit floor for later reclamation use as the highwall advances east. Numerous materials
stockpiles eve located throughout the pit floor. A batch plant and a screening plant are located within the pit
area. The pit floor is surrounded on the east and north by the active and reclaimed highwalls, and berms to
the west acid south. The south berm protects the North Delta Ditch from impacts, as required by permit
stipulation.
This appears to be a very organized and well run operation.
I & E Contact Address
NAME ]chn Tambrasa
OPERATOR Delta County
STREET .291 Palmer
CITY/STA.TE/ZIP Delta, Colo. 81416
cc: Steve Shuey, DMG
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
p OTHER
