(Page 2) <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1980-149 <br />INSPECTION DATE 10/03/07 <br />INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC <br />This was an acreage release (AR-04) inspection of the Hokeatra Pit conducted by Erica Crosby <br />of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. Greg Nelson of Weld County and <br />Jennifer Lee of Applegate Group, Inc. were present during the inspection. The site is located <br />less than one mile north of Firestone in Weld County, Colorado. The site is immediately <br />south of the St. Vrain River and immediately east of Interstate 25. <br />The purpose of the acreage release request is to clarify the existing permit boundaries of <br />the Hokestra Pit. The site has undergone many phases of mining and development. It was decided by all parties to file an acreage <br />reduction request to the amount of 170 acres to clarify the permit boundaries. <br />The 4.1 acre lake around the Weld County Services building was inspected. The area is well <br />vegetated with grasses and wetland species. The County has recently mowed the land adjacent <br />to the lake. A concrete bike path surrounds the lake. The 4.1 acres of lake and shoreline <br />ie ready for final release. <br />The area north of the River that was in the original permit area is currently under permit M- <br />1982-015 operated by Carma Bayshore LLC. Because the area north of the river is under a <br />current permit, the Division will approve the release of the area from Weld County. The area <br />east of the permit area is the location of the 1998 bond release. The area has been <br />reclaimed to ground water ponds and two residential homes. <br />Based on the site inspection and review of the file, the Division will approve the acreage <br />reduction request.
