Attached is the correspondence that relates to the monitoring plan. <br />The Division was unable to locate any of the groundwater monitoring data as required. The <br />operator will need to submit all of the groundwater monitoring data since the permit was <br />issued on or before October 31, 2006. See page 4 for further detail. <br />Soil Amendment Stipulation <br />A stipulation was placed on the mining permit as a condition to the permit. The <br />stipulation states that by March 1, 1994 the operator shall submit a letter to the DMG <br />describing its efforts to explore the use of cost effective soil amendments at the Swan <br />River Resource Pit and report the results of these efforts to the Division (see attached <br />stipulation). Alpine Rock responded to the Division on two occasions (2/4/1994 and <br />7/1/1994) stating that mining operations have not begun and will contact the Division at a <br />later date to determine that status of coat effective soil amendments. The Division found <br />no further correspondence in the file regarding soil amendments. Based on the annual <br />reports, it appears that mining started in 1995. Alpine Rock will need to address this <br />stipulation and respond to the Division on or before October 31, 2006.
