(Page 21
MINE ID k OR PROSPECTING ID 11 M-84-155
INSPECTION DATE 4/23/98
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS WHE
This inspection was conducted as part of DMG's routine monitoring plan for permitted operations.
Tim Huskey could not accompany the DMG inspector due to mud slide activities on county roads
at other locations. No individuals were contacted, no activities were observed during the time of
this inspection. The Bartley Gravel Pit is approved for 77.3 acres affected area. Mine status is
active.
Mine identification sign was posted at mine entrance. Permit boundary was delineated sufficiently
to be located. Mine entrance road was well maintained.
Active operations were located in the western 1 /3 of the permit area. Topsoil had been recently
stripped to within 10' of the west boundary fence and to within 200' of the north boundary fence.
Recently salvaged topsoil was stockpiled along the north and east sides of the active extraction
area. Material stockpile was located along the south side of the extraction area. Current mining
activities appeared to be greater than 200' from the buried gas pipeline which extends through the
permit area from the NE corner to the south central border.
Clay borrow pit, located within the north central permit area appeared active. Topsoil and
overburden stockpiles were located along the west side of the clay pit. Clay pit exhibited internal
drainage.
Immediately east of the active extraction area, reclamation appeared current. Recent seeding had
occurred over a 2 acre area. Reclamation appeared complete for most of the eastern 2/3 of the
permit area.
Affected areas appeared stable, no evidence of erosion to affected areas and to surrounding areas
was observed.
NAME Tim Huskev
OPERATOR Dolores Countv
STREET P.O.
