(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-Anna-nna
INSPECTION DATE: 11/1~/n~ INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: ~AS_
OBSERVATIONS
1. A site inspection was made in response to a citizen complaint received from Ken Schell on October 24, 2006 (see
attached complaint letter). Present during the inspection was Mr. Rob Laird of Asphalt Specialties Company, Inc. Digital
photographs of the site were taken and are attached to this report. The nature of the complaint concerns operation of an
asphalt batch plant on site and environmental protections required.
2. There were no problems or concerns noted during the inspection. The operator does have a portable batch plant on
site and is approved via the DRMS permit for use of an asphalt batch plant on site. Mr. Laird explained that the batch
plant was operated previously on site, but that the operator has no immediate plans for future use of the batch plant at
the Turnpike Pit. All fuel tanks were within acceptable containment systems. There was also a large containment berm
around the batch plant facilities. There was no evidence of fuel, oil, or petroleum leaks or spills on site, or ruptured fuel
tanks. Further, the operator's mining and reclamation permit includes specific requirements regarding reportable spills of
any toxic or hazardous substance (including spills of petroleum products).
I & E ContactAddress
NAME: Mr. Rob Laird
OPERATOR: As hp alt SSpecialties Co.
