The Mekelburg <br />Pit is still being mined to the south and east. This site is much more organized than when it was inspected in 1993 and <br />1997. The central area has been pretty much mined out though there is still some to go. Mining will proceed to the east <br />shortly. The permit area is marked and the operations are still within the boundaries. There is still sorting equipment an <br />site and the mine will apparently move to the east once present reserves are exhausted. <br />Topsoil is stockpiled properly, the pit has been sloped and reclaimed to the north and west.
