III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was an aerial inspection of the Marr Strip Mine conducted by Harry Ranney of the DMG. <br />Aerial photographs were taken on Mazch 2, 2005 at approximately 9:39 a.m. Mike Boulay of the <br />DMG reviewed the aerial photographs. Weather conditions were cleaz and sunny at the time of <br />the flight. The majority of the mine site was snow covered. Some vegetation was showing <br />through the snow cover on south facing slopes. As seen in the attached photographs, the site <br />appeazs in good condition and stable. No significant erosion problems or azea of instability were <br />noted. <br />Hydrologic Balance <br />Sedimentation Ponds A, B, C, D and G are visible in the photos. The water levels appear to be <br />relatively low in Ponds A, B, and D. Ponds C and G do not appeaz to be retaining any water. <br />None of the sedimentation ponds were dischazging at the time of the flight. All of the ponds aze <br />snow covered at the surface. Pond embankments appear to be stable and no problems were noted <br />at any of the sediment pond locations. <br />Support Facilities <br />The light use road accessing the mine site and the shop/wazehouse azea was snow packed and <br />there was no activity noted at the site at the time of the flight. The shop and wazehouse azea was <br />viewed. This location was heavily snow covered. Facilities and perimeter areas appeaz to be <br />well maintained and no problems were noted with this aerial inspection. <br />
