III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE Below aze comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken dwing the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. This was a partial inspection conducted by Joe Dudash of the Colorado DMG. No one represented the operator during the inspection. The entire site was snow covered and it was very cold. Hvdroloev There was a small amount of ice in the sediment pond, well below discharge. The snow covered embankment appeared to be stable. The collection ditch leading into the sediment pond had sufficient capacity. The spring water treatment pond was neazly ice covered and was discharging at about 20 gpm. The color of the discharge water was the usual orange, previously found to be in compliance. The east spring which feeds into the spring water treatment pond was flowing in a channel that had been recently reworked by the operator. The reworked channel was functioning well. The spring was emanating from the hillside at a point about 30 feet up from the facilities area. The temperature of the spring water was taken at a point about 15 feet below the emanation point. The water temperature was 99 degrees Fahrenheit. The air temperatwe was 6 degrees Fahrenheit. No problems were noted at the two alluvial wells. The well caps were in place. The berm located between the mine site and the river was functional. Roads The entrance road was covered in snow but was passable. The cable across the road at the top of the hill was down. The gate was locked at the mine entrance on the other side of the bridge. Signs and Markers The mine ID sign was up at the top of the hill. The "no trespassing" sign was up on the gate.
