III. Comments - Compliance
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of
observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe any
enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence
supporting the enforcement action.
On January 17 1991 a partial inspection was conducted at the McClane
Canyon Mine. At 3:30 p. m. this inspector met Mark Wehmanen of McClane;
John Walters the usual mine contact was underground at the time. The
weather was cloudy and cold. There was a good amount of snow on the
ground and the roads were frozen and snowpacked.
The haul road was inspected; ditches were full of snow and everything
was frozen. It did not appear that it has thawed since the last
snowfall. No problems were noted in the mine portal area. The mine has
a sanding truck to sand the roads. This has been unusually necessary
this year because of the greater than normal snowfall and colder than
normal temperatures. No problems were noted during this inspection.
