A brief site inspection was made of the Tower Pit No. 1 to verify the presence or absence <br />of water wells within 600 feet of the existing excavations. Present during the inspection <br />was Jamie Gaboriau and the plant manager of the Tower Pit No. 1. <br />2. The operator has recently requested a change to the mine plan that will allow for <br />dewatering and dry mining methods. On December 23, 1999 the operator submitted a groundwater <br />investigation indicating the location of water wells within 1,000 feet of excavations in the <br />the Parcel A and Parcel E Areas. Several wells are noted with the potential of being within <br />600 feet of the existing and anticipated excavation. Well #68905 was not located and is <br />thought to be located under existing topsoil/overburden stockpiles. The field location of <br />Vlell #4577F is unknown; and the plant manager had no knowledge of its existence. It is <br />possible that the previous operator has already mined through the location of this well. <br />47e11 #85949 was not located as this well is reported to be on private property outside the <br />permit area. Ms. Gaboriau and the plant manager indicated that prior to submittal of the <br />request for dewatering, the water commissioner had conducted a field inspection of the site <br />and had not located any adjudicated, existing wells that are within 600 feet of the existing <br />excavations. <br />3.
