(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: -M-X499-01 ~
INSPECTION DATE: Apol?LL Anne INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: ~1~
OBSERVATIONS
This was a full financial and performance warranty release request inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of
DMG. The operator was contacted but was did not attend the inspection. The site is located approximately
2.5 miles southeast of Limon, Colorado. The pit was situated along the south bank flood plain alluvial terrace of
Big Sandy Creek.
Reclamation was completed in 2002 and the site has progressed nicety to this point. Re-grading, topsoiling and
seeding appear to have been completed in accordance with the approved plan. The plant community was
representative of species that were included in the seed mix. Desirable vegetation has established very well
over most of the site and no noxious weeds were observed. The level areas along the terrace bottom are
especially well established and it appears that the landowner may have even hayed some of these areas.
There are a couple of small areas along the south side backfilled areas where very little vegetation exists. One
of these is at the bottom of the re-graded slope where the slope intersects the road. The upper 3/4ths of the
slope is very nicely vegetated along its entire length, however the lower 1 /4 or so of the slope is nearly devoid
of any vegetation and seems to be in areas where cattle hoof prints were very prevalent. It appears entirely
possible that cattle congregate in this area and have just trampled what grasses may have established, or
perhaps this area was re-disturbed by the landowner for some reason. In any event, the lack of vegetation is
not causing a problem and its location along the toe of the slope means it will be receiving seed from upslope
plants which should lead to volunteer plant establishment over time. No other concerns were identified and
based on this inspection, and the fact that the site appears to be meeting its post-mining land use, the site is
eligible for full financial and performance warranty release. Therefore the request is being approved.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Carl Roberts
OPERATOR: Lyman-Richey Corporation
STREET: P n Rr~x 964
CITY/STATE/ZIP: C~lumhns, NPhrnckn
cc: r CE
t BL
t FS
I' H W
T HMWMD (CH)
T SE
I' WQCD (CH)
I' OTHER
