III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection Comments also descnbe any enforcement actions taken durng the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action <br />This was an aerial inspection flown by Harry Ranney of the Colorado Division of Minerals <br />and Geology Oblique aerial photographs were taken by Mr. Ranney on December 14, 2004 <br />and reviewed by Kent Gorham of the CDMG on December 19, 2004 This former <br />underground mine has been idle or served as a loadout since underground operations <br />ceased nearly 15 years ago. <br />~drologic Balance <br />Pond 8 at the RDA is clearly visible in one of the photographs. Two large sediment deltas <br />are clearly visible at the bottom of the refuse pile downdrains where they enter the pond. <br />The operator should carefully evaluate the sediment level during the required annual pond <br />inspection and certification. <br />Processing Waste <br />Additional progress is evident with regard to the regrading efforts of the refuse disposal area <br />surface. Grading using a dozer continues on the east side of the pile. It appears that much <br />of the grading on the west side is complete. <br />
