Fence lines
boundaries.
INITIALS RM
Division of
:ton CR 38.
delineate
The site is active with excavation continuing in Tract B. The Division has some concern zeg g the depth of
mining in regards to highwall stability. The depth of the excavation appears to be getting close ~ a point where the
alluvial deposits around it may become unstable. Given the fact that excavation is very cl se to the permit
boundaries, off site damage may become an issue. Although not listed as a problem currently, it~ being listed as an
issue of concern. The Division is uestin a s bili anal is of the wall sl es ' relati to the d th of
minin¢. A qualified engineer or geo-technical firm must do the analysis. Thie issue is noted at to end of this report
with a submittal date.
The depth could have a major impact on the reclamation bond as it is required that a 3:1 s
above and below the waterline and 2;1 thereafter. Staff is unsure whether there aze enough
establish such slopes without importing materials from other sources. Please supply the Div
this t .This issue is noted at the end of this report with a submittal date.
There currently is no reclamation under way on site, It may be is the operator's best interest to
Tract A and assess if some reclamation can begin. Reclamation of some lake slopes will ke
down overall. It was noted that topsoil stockpiles had roads built on top of them. Roads con
have a deleterious effect on it. It is recommended that the operator stockpile topsoil in less t
No noxious weeds were noted within the permit boundaries. The operator appears to be
monitoring for invasive species.
The bond is due for a periodical review. The inspector will wait for Valco materials
recalculating the bond. If there is a shortage of materials, the Division will be required to bot
any shortfalls.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Get
Field Office, 101 South 3'" Street, Roam 301, Grand Juncton, Colorado 81501, phone no. 870-241-11
I & E Contact Address cc:
^ CE
NAME: Etl Stewart ^ BL
OPERATOR: Valco Gunnison Concrete ^ F3
STREET: P.O.
