One option ie to move all material that presently is offeite to areas within
the permit, replace the boundary fence in its original location, and establish the pasture
grasses again. Another option is to amend the current permit and expand the size of the
permitted acreage, and thereby bring all offeite damage into the permit. The second option
would not only tend to correct the issue of offeite damage but would allow for easier
reclamation of the highwalls and ditch reestablishment. The operator expressed an interest
in the second option, and an application for a 110 amendment was mailed. It must be noted
that though the operator may perform and complete either of these corrective actions in good
faith, it will not eliminate the fact that a possible violation occurred, eo the Board
hearing must still be held.
There were no other issues discussed oneite, or problems noted during the inspection.
~I~iu. ~~ K'~S~
I & E Contact ddrees cc: Jim Stevens/DMG
^ CE
NAME Marlene Crosby ^ BL
OPERATOR Gunnison County ^ FS
STREET 11th and Rio Grande ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Gunnison CO 81230 ^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
cc:
Commissioner Cindy Bowen
Montrose County
301 S.
