III. Comments/Compliance
This was a partial inspection conducted by Jim Burnell of CDMG on the Wednesday,
September 18, 2002. This site was quiet and deserted. A heavy rain was falling.
At the East Mine, the area below the road that was amended last year, the vegetation had
greened up considerably since the summer. There was no evidence of erosion at the bottom
of the slope despite the rain of the last week.
The road ditches contained standing water. There was fresh mud on the road from run-off
from the slump areas, so sediment extended out onto the roadway. One of the culverts
beneath the road is plugged. The area above the road had also greened up.
At the Middle Mine, there is good vegetation both above and below the road. There were no
signs of erosion or instability that haven't been there before.
At the West Mine, the vegetation is excellent, with thick grasses and numerous shrubs,
much of it greener from the recent rains. The pond contained a small amount of standing
water. Pond embankments were stable. There was no evidence of siltation escaping from
the site.
