<br />MINE ID ~ OR PROSPECTING ID # M-77-071 <br />INSPECTION DATE 03/17/99 <br />INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC <br />This was a pre-operation inspection of the Half Moon Pit conducted by Erica Crosby of the <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. Steve Kleeberger was present during a portion of <br />the inspection. Weather conditions on site were cool and clear. <br />Lake County Commissioners filed a complete conversion application for the site on January 27, <br />1999. Filing of the conversion application was a result of the October 15, 1998 inspection <br />and notice of violation MV-99-001 issued by the Mined Land Reclamation Hoard on January 26, <br />1999. The conversion application will increases the permit area from 9.9 acres to 23.60 <br />acres. <br />The mine site is located 6 ~ miles southwest of Leadville. Amine sign was posted at the <br />mine entrance, identifying the filing of a conversion application. The permit boundary will <br />expand to the north. The permit boundary borders property owned by Paul Moltz to the south. <br />Lake County owns the remainder of the adjacent property. Only one manmade structure is <br />located within 200 feet of the affected area. The Templeton Ditch is located 65 feet from <br />the southwest corner of the site. The location of the ditch and necessary compensation <br />agreements is located in the application. <br />To date, the site consists of a working pit area, subsoil piles, topsoil piles and a working <br />area containing an asphalt batch plant. No mining activity was taking place during the <br />inspection.
