(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1979-140
INSPECTION DATE 02-14-2006 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted as part of DMG's ongoing monitoring program for permitted mines in
Colorado.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12.
No significant erosional or sedimentation features were noted on or extending from the affected areas of the site.
Crushing and stockpiling were currently taking place on the east side of the pit with excavation from the northeast corner. The
highwall appears to have approximately 20 feet of gravel covered by 10 feet of overburden and topsoil.
The west three quarters of the north pit slope, portions of the east slope, and the west side perimeter of the pit have been
graded to a slope of 3H:1 V or less as approved in the reclamation plan. The north west corner of the pit floor and the regarded
slopes have been covered with topsoil in late 2005 (Nov: Dec.). Topsoil replacement depths appear to be 10-12 inches as
specified in the permit. A stormwater ditch was cut at the base of the slope todrain on-site flow to the west of the permit area.
Delta County was instructed to perform revegetation tasks on the topsoiled areas by mid- April. Late March might be more
successful in terms of vegetation success. It was also recommended that the stormwater control ditch have siltfences installed
to minimize loss of soil through which the ditch is cut. The ouffall of the ditch may need top be armored to prevent erosion of
the drainage channel outlet.
No significant infestations of noxious weeds were noted on site during this inspection. However, much of the areas in
reclamation were recently covered with topsoil. Delta County is strongly encouraged to reseed these areas in the spring of
2003 and perform some weed control on these slopes as necessary during the spring and summer.
The asphalt batch plant is not currently on site. The scrubber ponds associated with the plant are currently approximately
three-fourths full and the pond liners appear to be compromised in a few places and need to be replaced.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone number 970-243-6368.
I $ E Contact Address
NAME Larrv Record
OPERATOR Delta County
STREET 501 Palmer Street Suite 227
CITY/STATE/ZIP Delta.
