z
III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of
observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe any
enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence
supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology. No one else was present. A few feet of snow
covered the ground and limited inspection.
The Division recently issued a proposed decision to approve a full phase III
bond release at the Apex Mine. The decision will become final upon expiration
of the comment period.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS
All required records were available at the Routt County Courthouse. The records
checklist is attached.
3IGN3 AND MARKERS
The operator has removed the two mine i.d. signs.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE and Support Facilities
Although snow cover inhibited inspection of the pond, there appeared to be no
problems with the pond or in the former facilities yard area.
SLIDES AND DAMAGE
No new rock falls were apparent on the former portal bench.
