(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1996-089
INSPECTION DATE 10/17/05 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was performed by the Division as part of its monitoring of Construction Materials 112c permits. The operator
was contacted about the inspection, and the operator's representative named on page one was present during the inspection.
The site is identified by the required permit ID sign posted at the entrance. The permit boundary is marked byfencelines, and
the affected area boundary is marked by a temporary fence extending along the southern edge of the area being actively
mined.
The site is active, with crushing equipment in the pit near the toe of the highwall, and several stockpiles of gravel products in
the pit. Topsoil is being carefully stripped ahead of mining, and stockpiled on the eastern side of the pit floor. There is an old,
pre-permit topsoil stockpile located above the active highwall, that will be moved prior to being disturbed by excavation. It might
be stockpiled or might be placed on areas that have been graded and ready to be topsoiled. The operator is aware that all new
topsoil that is to be stockpiled longer than a year must be seeded.
The reclamation of the north wall of the pit is well underway. About half has been graded and seeded, with some thin
vegetation becoming established. The other half of the slope has only been rough graded, but may require only minimal
earthwork and revegetation at this point. The east side of the pit was not disturbed and is considered reclaimed.
Active mining is proceeding toward the SW. The ramp road into the pit has been slightly realigned to the north to
accommodate the advancing highwall. The pit floor in the existing (NE) part of the pit is at its final depth below surrounding
grade, and is expected to dip slightly to the SW as the pit expands, though depth of the pit relative to the surrounding grade
remains constant.
Fuel and other fluids are stored adequately. There is no debris or junk in the pit. There are no noxious weeds on the site.
Overall the site is kept very neat and orderly, and reclamation is carried out in a timely way as space allows. The bond amount
is due for review, and the new figures will be sent to the operator. The bond amount that is posted is currently above the
amount required, so there may not be an actual "increase" resulting from the upcoming recalculation,
No further items were observed during the inspection. Responses to this inspection report should be directed to the Division of
Minerals and Geology, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn: Bob Oswald; phone no.970-247-5193.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Ken Skoalund
OPERATOR Skoglund Excavating Inc
STREET PO Box 209
CITY/STATE2IP Moffat.
