(Page 2)
~ MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-77-436
INSPECTION DATE November 16, 1998
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS TAS
1. An aerial inspection of the Tower Pit No. 1 was conducted. Several or more oblique
photographs of the Regular 112 Operation were taken with a 35mm camera and will be used by
Division Staff during future ground inspections to determine compliance with the approved
mine and reclamation plan. Photographs (slides) are attached to this report.
2. The photographs were taken to document any changes in the pit disturbance and hydrology
at the site since the previous site inspections on August 28, 1998 and September 14, 1998.
Excavation of construction materials in the northwestern corner of the pit appears to be
completed. Also, there appears to be considerably more water in the floor of the pit.
3. On October 30, 1998 the Division completed its review of a current reclamation cost for
the Tower Pit No. 1. A request was then sent to the operator for a financial warranty
increase to be submitted on or before December 29, 1998. The operator was given the option
of performing reclamation tasks (primarily backfilling the pit to an elevation of 2 feet
above groundwater) on or before December 29, 1998 to reduce the amount of financial warranty
required. It does not appear that any significant reclamation has been performed at the site
since October 30, 1998.
4. Copies of the aerial photographs will be made available to the operator upon request,
provided the operator is willing to pay for the cost of duplication.
I & E Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Mr. Dave Hammer ^ BL
OPERATOR D.H.
