(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2000-052
INSPECTION DATE: 6!2812000
OBSERVATIONS

INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: AIW
This was apre-operational inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG along with Tom Smith of Rock Mountain Materials
and Asphalt. The site is located approximately 4 miles south of Florence, Colorado and just east of Hwy 67. The pit is going
to be situated along an old alluvial plain remnant. The remnant plain forms aflat-topped ridge that is fairly wide (600-800 feet)
and drops off both sides rather steeply. The ridge extends well beyond the permit boundary to the northeast. There is also an
area along the south that runs in a more east-west direction.
The permit boundaries are situated such that they only cover the top of the ridge down to the bottom of the gravel deposit.
There is one old but producing oil well situated on top of the ridge that will need to be lowered during mining and re-set once
the area has been mined through. The application contains a damage agreement letter from the owner of the well to the
operator. The only other structure currently on site is the livestock fence. This will also need to have a damage waiver. There
are a couple of R.O.W. easements that traverse the permit area but no structures presently exist in these R.O.W.'s.
The site is presently being used as rangeland and is covered in vegetation typical to this area such as Blue grams dominated
grasslands interspersed with PinonlJuniper woodlands. No noxious weeds were observed on site. The soils appear to be
adequate on the upper flat areas but clearly thin out on the sideslopes. There are no primary drainages within the permit area
and the nearest receiving drainage appears to be an intermitten or ephermeral drainage at best. The overburden varies from 0
to approximately 6 feet in thickness and the gravel deposit is up to 20 feet thick. The mining plan basically removes the top 20
or so feet of the ridge leaving a level area resembling the present topography except where it transitions into the adjacent
property.
No problems observed and this concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Gre¢orv S.
