III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the <br />inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection conducted by Janet Binns of CDMG. Jerry Nettleton of BTU-Empire Corp. <br />accompanied the inspection and provided access to the records. The mine is in Temporary Cessation. No active <br />mining activity is occurring on the mine site. Mine site was dry and temperatures were warm, approximately low 70's. <br />Records: Records were checked at the mine office. Records list accompanies this report. <br />Roads: Roads are in good condition through out mine site. No problems were identified on the roads. <br />Hvdroloeic Balance: The mine has received recent precipitation over the preceding weekend and previous day. There <br />is no rain gauge at the mine site, so an accurate record of recent precipitation at the mine site is not available. <br />Pond conditions: <br />Pond Name Outfall Number Comments <br />5-P1 007 D <br />5-P2 D <br />5-P3 D <br />5-P5, P6, P7 Tmt. ponds Currently pumping mine water 0.65 on staff gauge. Dischazge is clear <br />with no odor. One burrow was observed near the waterline on the west <br />side of SP-5. Toe of the embankment outslopes are dry or slightly damp <br />indicatin that the reviousl observed uddles were due to snowmelt. <br />SA-Pl 009 D <br />9-PI Incised and <br />9-P2 The pond is holding small pool of slightly turbid water approximately 8- <br />12 inches deep. The operator is currently not pumping from North Angle <br />7 pump. Considerable rodent burrowing activity has occurced on the <br />embankment. Control of the ground squirrels and repair to the <br />embankment is needed. <br />9-P3 024 Dry. Considerable rodent burrowing activity has occurced on the <br />embankment. This hole appears <br />to be related to the coal seam fire located to the northwest of the pond. <br />DRMS lMP has been notified of this hole. BTU EC will atch this hole. <br />SH-P2 012 D <br />HR-Pl 004 Eastern cell was holding water several feet below discharge elevation. <br />Western cell was d and well ve etated. <br />
