Cottony
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has received your response to the issues noted on the August
22nd 2006 inspection. Thank you for addressing the issues and clarifying some contact information.
I apologize for missing the sign. I'm not sure how, but it is duly noted as having been present. Although the
inspection report had only one picture of the posts, several were actually noted. It was the area to the east where
apparently a new pipeline will be cutting across that there was a question although the disturbance was clearly
within the boundaries. Thank you for flagging them and resetting a few.
At the time of the inspection, the thistle appeared to be healthier than the pictures you provided. The herbicide
probably was just kicking in and hard to detect. The main concern the Division has is that materials being hauled
out could and probably are spreading the weed. Your continued efforts are appreciated and [he Division does not
expect eradication but reasonable control. Please note in your Annual Reports the continued efforts of spraying.
This will provide documentation for when you wish to release the site that Currier Gravel made substantial efforts
to control the infestation. The Division also understands that Mesa County Weed Control is busy and stretched
thin. Their involvement may give you some other alternatives and expertise. Please pursue their help, but your
spraying is enough to abate the issue noted for now.
All issues are considered abated at this time. Thank you for your cooperation.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Grand
Junction Field Office, 101 South Third Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone no. 970-
241-1117
Sincerely,
~. -
G.
