III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE r--
P~,~ / y h p:~~~-Q3~os~
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include di~cus ion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Twin Pines Mine conducted by Jim Stark of
CDMG. The bond for this site has been forfeited after reclamation was completed.
The weather was cool, windy and sunny and the ground was dry.
The coal sales/tipple area was well vegetated and in good condition. The
vegetation is beginning to turn green. The remaining pond contained a small
amount of water and appeared to be well vegetated and in good condition. There
were no erosional problems noted on the pond embankment. The access road is a
county road and it is well maintained and in good condition.
The portal area was also well vegetated and in good condition. The vegetation at
the portal area is also beginning to turn green. The road to the portal area is showing
some minor erosional problems (minor rills) but is in overall good shape. The
remaining highwall still appears to be stable and in good condition. The remaining
pond was well vegetated and dry and no erosional problems were noted.
Overall both areas at Twin Pines are well vegetated in good condition. There are no
erosional problems at either part of the site.
