The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site as part of sites to be inspected for the fiscal year
2001- 2002. Tt~e site is a small 110(2) sand and gravel operation, located approximately 4 miles North of
Bethune Colorado on County Road 40. On January 25, 2000, the Division approved a Technical Revision
application, which placed the site on an intermittent status, in accordance with Rule 1.13.7. The site is
operated on as need basis. Boundary markers and sign properly posted, given the difficulty the operator
had keeping them in place, due to hunters and locals using them for target practice. The past inspection of
the site had identified over lapping permits as a possible problem with the permit area and requested the
operator to submit a new survey of the permit area, which to date, had not been provided. Since there
appears to be smother county permit (permit # M-89-081) OVERLAPPING THE PERMIT AREA, the Division
requests Kit Carson County to SUBMIT A PERFORMANCE WARRANTY RELEASE REQUEST IN ACCORDANCE
WITH RULE 4.16. FOR THE OVERLAPPING AREA BY ADDING IT TO ONE OF THE PERMITS AND PROVIDE
NEW MAPS FOIL BOTH PERMITS WITHIN 60 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THE INSPECTION. Entire site was
inspected no major problem noted other than the one identified above.
