(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1994-114
INSPECTION DATE 9/29/05 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was performed by the Division as part of its monitoring of Construction Materials 110permits. The operator
was contacted about the inspection. The operator's representative named on page one was present during the inspection.
The site was not active on the day of the inspection.
The site is identified by the required permit ID sign, posted at the entrance to the site. Three of the four permit corner markers
(steel T-posts) were located on the site. The fourth was not found (the NE marker was possibly removed by a trespasser who
had dumped some woody debris near this permit corner). The operator will find the corner location and mark it. There is no
mining activity near this corner, and none is suspected to be offsite. There is no problem at this time.
The pit is located close to the central eastern boundary. No further excavation should occur on that side, though any future
activity has plenty of room toward the south, west or north. The pit is about 10 ft deep, covering less than 3 acres. Highwalls
are not sloped. There is a minimal amount of debris at the site, and could be buried onsite during reclamation if needed. The
pit floor is dry.
The permitted land surrounding the pit is still well vegetated, including aone-acre area west of the pit that had been stripped of
topsoil in the past. Erosion is not occurring at this site. Runoff is contained in the pit or controlled on the vegetated portion.
Topsoil had been salvaged and stockpiled to the south of the pit. The stockpile is verywell vegetated and contains no weeds.
The existing highwalls show that soil had been stripped in advance of the mining, but notveryfar. When future mining occurs,
on any of the highwalls, topsoil should be stripped and saved far reclamation.
There was no equipment and no hydrocarbons on the site. There were no noxious weeds and no contaminants.
The bond amount is $26460, which was estimated to cover reclamation costs for the entire site. Since only half of the site or
less has been affected, the existing bond is considered to be adequate. The operator stated that he may reclaim or sell the site
in the near future. If reclamation is to begin, the approved reclamation plan should be reviewed prior to commencing work.
No further items were observed during the inspection. Responses to this inspection report should be directed to the Division of
Minerals and Geology, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn: Bob Oswald; phone no.970-247-5193.
I & E Contact Address
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
Arthur Nordvke
Nordvke Construction
PO Box 29
Westcliffe, CO 81252
cc: Harry Posey, DMG
^ CE
^ BL
p FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WOCD (CH)
p OTHER
