The site is a 112c permit covering 41.37 acres, located approximately 3 miles South West <br />of Calhan. The site was converted into a 112 permit, in 1995. According to the operator's representatives <br />present during the inspection, the site was active this past year and is used on as need basis. Pit was not <br />active, at the time of the inspection. Pit floor was holding some water from the recent storm. Livestock <br />were grazing with in the permit area at the time of the inspection. A few rills and small gullies were noted <br />on the pit slopes, however, since all the drainage is towards the pit, it can be addressed during reclamation. <br />Topsoil was stockpiled around the pit perimeter; it was stable, no major sign of erosion noted. Permit sign <br />and boundary markers were properly posted. If there are no plans to mine material from this pit in the <br />future, the Division advises the operator to consider one of the following options. i) Change the status of <br />the permit to a temporary cessation or intermittent status in Accordance with the Construction Materials <br />Rules and Regulations or commence reclamation.
