As a product of our meeting today, Southdown will complete
the following actions on or before December 31, 1997:
• A location map will be provided showing the location of the mine site on a
"Lyons Quadrangle Map'.
• A quarry site map will be prepared with the following features:
- Property ownership boundaries
- Current and future quarry disturbance
-Current and future cross sections showing slopes and depths
-Mine permit and disturbance clearly marked
- Reclamation plan clearly marked
• Mine boundaries will be clearly marked in the field
• It is Southdown's desire at this time to keep eventual mine activity (including
reclamation) to less than 10 acres which is within the State of Colorado's
110 permit requirements. The precise acreage will be submitted along
with the maps.
• A brief narrative will be attached to the maps decribing the mining and
reclamation plans.
On a related matter... I spoke with our corporate headquarters in Houston
regarding the requested bond rider. This rider has been obtained and is
currently on its way to Lyons. It will be forwarded to you within the next week.
Thank you again for your help in this matter. If you have any additional
questions, please call.
Sincerely

ohr, Plant Manager
F O. Box 529 Lyons, Colorado 80540
(3031 823-2100 • Fax: (303) 823-2199
