(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-19Rn-~aa
INSPECTION DATE: in-F-nn INSPECTORS INITIALS: aK
The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site on 30-6-00. Prior to the physical inspection, the
operators representatives Mr. Phil Barnes and Mr. Tim Comer explained CC&V'S plan to abandon additional
ground water monitoring wells, as part of their on going plan to remove wells that are either with in the
area that will be affected under Amendment # 8 or wells that are considered useless due to either poor
completion or development. The Division agreed with the representatives' recommendations, on the
number of wells to be eliminated. Since under Amendment #B, the Division has set ground water
compliance wells, the elimination of these wells will not affect the overall monitoring plan for the site. In
addition, prior to the physical inspection, a brief discussion on the existing financial warranty was held with
Suzi Erickson present. The Physical inspection began at the American eagle lookout area, where Phil Barnes
gave a brief overlook of the site. Inspected the main Cresson mine, it was active no problem noted.
Continued the inspection to the crusher area, it was also active, Mr. Barnes gave a brief explanation of how
the crusher works, no problem noted. Continued the inspection to the top of the topsoil stockpile area near
the crusher where the operator might move the generators to that location. Operator was notified to submit
a TR for the proposed location change, which they agreed. Continued the inspection to the leach pad area.
One of the wells that will be abandoned is located North of the ARD building and the operator plans to
replace it with one located down gradient of the ARD Building, which could be able to capture any flow from
that building. Continued the inspection to the underdrain area, both ponds approved under TR 35 are in
place and appeared to be functioning as designed. Both 24" pipes and the 4" pipe were discharging at the
time of the inspection. The discharge from the North underdrain was a trickle while the South underdrain
was discharging at approximately 4 gpm. (Actual measurements were not taken) While in the area, the
following readings were taken from the High and Low volume solution collection systems tranceducers.
High volume pump # 4 read 11.2 feet of head, # 5 read 19.5 feet of head and # 6 read 11.0 feet of head.
Low volume pump # 1 read .07 feet of head and #2 read .06 feet of head.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: SCOTT LEWIS
OPERATOR: CC&V
STREET: P.O.BOX 191
CITY/STATE/ZIP: VICTOR, CO ROR60
JAMES STEVENS
cc: ^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
