INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE N0. 76-56
DATE: August 8, 1985
OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE:
1. Site is as described in the annual reports.
2. Operator is having excellent success with the tree plantings around the
site. Planted trees successfully growing include Black walnut,
cottonwood, Russian olive, wild plum and wild cherry. The only planted
species not surviving are the pine trees. Operator is thinking about
stopping the drip-irrigation next season due to the healthy nature of
the trees.
3. Topsoil from this site is being exported to the Mertens Pit (Permit
83-47) to increase reclamation success potential at that site.
4. Operator has fenced off the native cottonwood trees in the area to
protect them from beavers.
5. Slides 3 - View of one of the tree orchards
4-7: From ditch looking east rotating north to south
at plant site.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Division applauds the operator's activities at the site and encourages
the continued tree orchard planting.
2.
