III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. This former underground mine was reclaimed and reseeded in
1996 and early 1997. The mine has achieved a Phase II bond release for the
majority of the disturbed area. Ground conditions were dry and the weather was
mild and windy.
Signs and Markers
The mine identification sign was found posted immediately north of the railroad
track crossing of the main entry road. The smaller sign indicating the address
and phone number of the Division of Minerals and Geology has been destroyed by the
wind. Please post this required information in accordance with Rule 4.30.2(3).
Revedetation
Due to dry conditions and cool soil temperatures, growth has not yet begun at this
site. Existing cover is qualitatively rated as good and litter cover continues to
build and promote stability of the soils.
3
