(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn-iv9i-nxn
INSPECTION DATE: ~ 1/~Fi/nd INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: K1 C
OBSERVATIONS
This was a monitoring inspection conducted as part of DMG's inspection program for permitted operations.
Don Blake, the Lincoln County Land Use Administrator accompanied us on the inspection.
Material from this site is used to construct and maintain roads in the county's Road District 1
The identification sign was properly posted at the public entrance to the site and the affected area boundaries
were clearly marked.
There is a high wall where they are currently removing material, with a "topsoil" or overburden pile above the
high wall. It appears to be overburden because of its light color as compared to the topsoil layers observed
along fhe cuts. A topsoil layer approximately 3-feet-thick was observed along the cut to the high wall. Still,
topsoil thickness is variable across the site. On another nearby cut, topsoil thickness was about 8 inches.
Posey noted that the southwest topsoil stockpile needed more vegetation to prevent loss of topsoil by erosion
and that all topsoil stockpiles needed improved labeling. Topsoil stockpiles were weedy, but not with noxious
weeds. (See photo)
Windrowed topsoil or overburden above the active high wall appears to be helping maintain the vegetation.
A few minor rills were developing on the southeastern reclaimed wall. These should be addressed if tilling
worsens.
The map submitted with the 2004 Annual Report closely depicts the current operation.
Dead Canadian thistle were observed, having been killed in accordance with the County's weed control plan.
The landowner uses the old pit area for material to maintain roads on his property. Cattle are run on the
property.
No problems were noted. This concluded the inspection of the Ravenkamp Pit No. lmine site.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Mr. Don Blake
OPERATOR: Lincoln County Land Use Office
STREET: P n Rnx 39
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Hugn CC) ftnR91
cc; CE
BL
FS
HW
HMWMD (CH)
SE
WQCD (CH)
OTHER
