Mr. Don
Blake, the Lincoln County land use administrator and Mr. Mark McHone, road and bridge supervisor,
accompanied this inspector. This pit had been previously disturbed as a pre-law CDOT operation. It
is an in-stream mining operation being conducted in the Arikaree river bed. The river is an
intermittent stream and was dry at the time of inspection. The county does not anticipate mining
when water is present in the river, and does not anticipate exposing groundwater.
The pit was inactive at the time of inspection, and no fuel or oil was stored at the pit. The sign
indicating the name and operator of the pit was in evidence at the entrance to the pit, and the
boundaries were clearly marked with steel fence posts.
Grade and drainage are controlled by the river/stream.
This appeared to be a well run operation.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Mr. Don Blake
OPERATOR: Lincoln Countv
STREET: P.O.Box 39
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Hugo, Cn ROR71
cc: ^ Mr. Harry Posey
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
