<br />III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the <br />inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was an aerial inspection flown by Harry Ranney of CDMG on 7/27/Ol. Digital images were recorded at the <br />time of the Flight. The digital images were reviewed by Janet Binns of Colorado Division of Minerals and <br />Geology on 7/31 /Ol. Review of these images is the basis for this inspection report. <br />The mine is an active surface mine with 4 active pits. The mine site appears dry but there are indications of recent <br />rainstorms by evidence of wet stock tanks and recent Flow noted in some drainages. <br />Hydrologic Balance: East flume pond shows signs of recent water flow into the southern end of the pond, <br />although the aerial images do not show standing water in the pond. <br />Slides & Damaee: Aerial images of 1996 reclaimed area show the settlement features. No new settlement <br />features are apparent in the aerial images, nor have the existing holes enlarged. Trapper Mining Inc. has indicated <br />that they will use a backhole to collapse the voids adjacent to the holes. The aerial images do not indicate [Itat this <br />General Mine Plan: Pit A is in good condition. The operatorcontinues to backfill as the pit progresses. The "Z" <br />pit remains active, though no dragline is present at the time of the aerial inspection. <br />Reclamation Success: 1998 reclaimed area located at the eastern portion of East Fork of the East Pyeatt drainage <br />remains in good condition. Water has flowed through this drainage recently. The drainage and dozer basins <br />appear to have handled the runoff without major erosion. <br />No problems other than the need for repair on [he 1996 Reclaim settlement features are apparent on the site based <br />upon the aerial images. <br />Page -3- of _4_ Pages, (date) _07131/01 , (initials) <br />
