During that inspection, an attempt was made to inspect all documented surface features which make up this
Hard Rock and Metal 112 permitted operation. Only one vent shaft site was left uninspected at the end of the last
inspection. This inspection consisted only in finding and observing conditions at that one shaft site. Due to this, the
operator was not contacted for the inspection. There was no mining personnel at the site, and it was not active at the time
of the inspection.
This vent shaft is one of the numerous small areas of permitted land over the ridge to the south of the main portal and
operations area. It contains a road spur, 3 powerpoles and overhead powerlines, 3 PCB-free transformers, one vent shafts
with 5-ft electric fan and concrete collar, plus a separate power hole with concrete collar and steel support framework
(similar to that seen in Awald #2). These features are located in the northern end of the Elda Jo #2 claim, and are to be
included on the map that is forthcoming from the operator. (For reference, there is an E-W fenceline and cattleguard
crossing between the shaft and transformer pole.) The removal and closure of these features will be included in the
reclamation costs.
The site appeared neglected, though not unstable or eroding. No reclamation has occurred.
There were no additional items observed. Earlier inspection of the other portions of the permit area revealed problems,
some of which have been addressed while others will be addressed this summer. Those problems will not be treated again
herein, though they must be corrected by the dates agreed on.
All responses or questions about this inspection report should be directed to this inspector at the Division's Durango Field
Office.
