III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection of the Hamilton Mine conducted on June 6, 2006 by Mike <br />Boulay of the DMG. Dave Andrews, Honeywood Coal Company's contractor was present <br />during the records check portion of the inspection. Weather conditions were sunny and hot. <br />There was no activity at the mine site during the inspection. <br />Availabilityof Records <br />Dave Andrews brought the records to the mine site from his home in Norwood. All required <br />records were available for review. Please see the attached records checklist at the end of this <br />inspection report. <br />Hydroloeic Balance <br />Sedimentation Ponds A and B were inspected. Both ponds were dry. Pond inlets and dischazge <br />structures at both locations were in good condition. Pond embankments were stable and well <br />vegetated. No problems were noted at either of the sediment ponds. <br />Roads <br />Roads were dry and there was no running water in any of the road ditches. The access road to <br />Ponds A and B was rutted in some locations, otherwise roads throughout the site were in <br />relatively good condition. Culverts were cleaz of sediment and debris and appeared to be capable <br />of functioning as intended. <br />Reclamation Success <br />Ground conditions were very dry at the site and vegetative covet appears to be turning brown. <br />No significant erosion features were noted in the reclaimed area. Numerous Tamazisks aze <br />becoming well established in the bottom and eastern side slope of Pond B, and in the bottom of <br />Pond A and along the inside of the pond embankment. The operator will initiate Tamazisk <br />control in permanently regraded and seeded areas beginning in the fall of 2006. <br />
