III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
t3elow are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology (Division). Ron Thompson accompanied me on this inspection.
Ground conditions on this day were dry and the weather was cold and windy.
Availability of Records
The public copy of the mine records was checked on November 30 at the office of Peak
Project Management (PPM). The contact, address. and phone number for PPM is Ron
Thompson, Peak Project Management. 34115 County Road 20.8. Trinidad. CO 81082, 719-
846-4975. The records should be updated with a current copy of the liability insurance
certificate as soon as possible. All other records were found in compliance as detailed on
page 2a of this report.
Revegetation
The main reclaimed area
at the former facility area
is well vegetated with a
diverse mix of grasses and
forbs. This coming
growing season (2006) will
be the tenth year of the
revegetation liability
period. The applicant will
again sample the
vegetation at the site in
preparation to submit a
future Phase Ifl bond
release application.
Offsite Support Facilities
The NW-1 ventilation site appeared normal following one growing season. Grasses and
forbs are dormant for the season. Adequate moisture is important for success at this site
due to the southern exposure and marginal soil conditions.
Soil Methane Area
No changes were noted at the areas affected by methane in the soil profile. Mr. Thompson
indicated that a consultant completed additional testing at the soil methane monitors within
the last 60 days.
The site appeared in good condition for the winter season
~.
~ , 'Rti'
' A
.. h , '
•..
,.y _ k-
•{{ ~7
