(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1999-074
INSPECTION DATE 9/12/03
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. The Brown Derby Mine is an underground /surface mineral mine with deposits of
tourmaline and lepidolite. The mine is located approximately 6 miles northwest of Pazlin, Colorado. The operator s
representatives, Glynda Yoder and Laurel Conrazd were present for the inspecfion.
The Mine Identification Signs were observed on site. Anew location may be placing the signs just inside the adit
entrance in plain view. This is to facilitate protection from the weather and vandalism as much as possible.
Boundary markers were noted as t-posts along the perimeter at key points that were easy to see and delineate
boundaries.
The operator has begun a general cleanup of the work pad and adit by loading out material that is sent off site for
processing. Currently, some of that material has been moved to the Lucky Strike Mine that is not far away. Once
the material leaves this mine permit azea its destination is of little concern to the Division as it has no known
hazardous properties. Staff to ensure there aze no potential conflicts with the approved mining and reclamation
plans for another site however must address any type of material that is imported to a permitted site. It is this
Office s understanding that the deposition of Brown Derby material at the Lucky Strike is a temporary arrangement
and small in nature. Staff sees no issue currently with this situation. However, if the operators of both pemutted
sites see this as a permanent agreement, the Division respectfully asks for a annual notice that should include an
estimate of the amount of materials to be imported and a rough schedule for the time frame that the material will be
stockpiled there. Any lengthy storage (over 12 months) of materials may have to be accounted for in the reclamation
bond for that site.
There were no erosion, sedimentation or storm water issues noted. Roads leading up to and within the permitted
azea aze in good repair. No off site damage was noted or observed.
Very little vegetation is noted within the disturbed azea. This site is pre-law, at high altitude and typical for these
reasons. There appears to be a substantial stockpile of topsoil/overburden materials on site, which will help in the
reclamation efforts later on. Some rice and needleandthread grasses were noted on this stockpile.
The adit itself has no water dischazges or evidence of other hydrological disturbances. The back and ribs appear to
be sound within the mine and no safety issues were noted. A steel grating or cage protects the entrance from
unauthorized entry and is in good repair.
No other issues were noted or observed at this time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rtl Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address cc:
^ CE
NAME: Glvnda Yoder ^ BL
OPERATOR: Precious Offerings Mineral Exchange ^ FS
STREET: 200 Alder Lane ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Boulder.
