The reclaimed area vegetation is in its third year Following reseeding. Considering the
drought conditions. numerous grass and forb species from the seed mix have become
established. The crested wheatgrass mistakenly seeded on the Corley property does not
dominate the grass community and, in fact. it was difficult to find this grass species. Bunch
grasses are widespread and appear to have become more mature, rather than being small
sprigs of grass.
Shrub mortality remains relatively low, Grazing pressure on the shrubs does not appear to
be negatively impacting them at this time Mountain mahogany transplants, as shown above,
reveal some signs of winter browsing but apparently not to the detriment of!-th~e plant itself.
ii., ~~
Slides and Damage
A small sinkhole, shown at left, has developed
on the reclaimed area above the portal. This is
likely settlement within the portal entry and
according to Mr. Patterson, has occurred once
before. He indicated he will excavate and
backfill this area as soon as possible.
Overall, the site appeared in average condition
for the late spring season with no significant
problems noted.
