(Page 2) <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1477-751 <br />INSPECTION DATE: 11-14-n1 <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ~- <br />The Division conducted a partial acreage inspection of the site on 11-19-01. The site is large 112 clay mine <br />located in ]efferson County. The area had received a couple of inches of snow the night before and the <br />roads were very slick. Operator was contacted but was unable to attend. On 9-26-O1, the operator, <br />(Robinson Brick) requested release of 135.38 acres of land located North East of the permit area, that is <br />owned by the State land Board, which was never disturbed by Robinson Brick. It appeared, from <br />conversation the Division had with the State Land Board, Robinson Brick lost the lease to the mineral (clay) <br />and had no choice but to request a release. The area requested to be released was driven and observed <br />from a distance, it appeared as described, no disturbance associated with the operator was noted. <br />At this time, the Division will recommend releasing this area from the existing permit. The mine was <br />inactive at the time of the inspection. Permit sign and markers were properly posted.
