MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-83-213
INSPECTION DATE 10/20/99
(Page 2)

INSPECTOR'S INITIALS TAS
1. A site inspection was made of the Lehr Gravel Pit as part of the Division's 4-year
inspection program. Present during the inspection was Mr. Greg Nelson of the Weld County
Public Works Department.
2. The Lehr Pit is permitted for 36.45 acres. The pit will be reclaimed to prairie
grassland. Disturbed slopes will be regraded to a configuration of 4:1 or less. The Lehr
Pit is a "dry" pit with no surface water or groundwater features.
3. Active mining was noted during the inspection. The operator has completed mining for 2/3
of the permitted acreage. Future mining will continue to the west in the western 1/3 of the
permit area. The operator has done an exemplary job of contemporaneous reclamation by
reducing pit highwalls and limiting the acreage of maximum disturbance. The eastern 1/3 of
the permit area has been graded, topsoiled, and seeded. The central 1/3 of the permit area
contains product stockpiles and a processing area.
4. Topsoil has been salvaged and stockpiled as specified in the mine plan. Mr. Nelson
indicated that topsoil stockpiled for longer than 12 months would be stabilied via cover crop
or approved reclamation seed mix.
5. An entrance sign and permit area markers were posted as required by Rule 3.1.12.
6. Overall, the appearance of the Lehr pit was very clean and well organized. No problems
or concerns were noted.
I & E Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Mr. Grea Nelson ^ BL
OPERATOR Weld County Public Works ^ FS
STREET P.O.
