At that tlme there was <br />apprordmately SB acres disturbed which had already beeu utlued o[ the gravel. Ia Plata Ceuuty purchased the 37.9 acre tract that the pit Des wlthls <br />sad has beeu using this site as oue of [Celt malu sources of gravel ever slate. <br />It appeaza that the couoty has mined a slgnlDcant amount of acreage outside the approved permit boundary. Disturbance was estlmated at 12 - 15 <br />acres. This Dgure Includes the 58 acres tltat was mlued prior ta the successleu of operator, which Is now the responslblDty of the couoty. Therefore, <br />Dtere Is a possible vlolatlon of We Rules and Regulatlous, at the site, for cosductlug mlulug eperatlous outside the approved permit boundary. La <br />Plata Couaty will be receiving a letter hom the Division la the neaz future statlng that the Division has reason to believe that a vlolatlos exists at <br />the alts. The letter will also schedule La Plata Couaty for a formal pubOc hearing before the ADned laud Reclamatloo Board. <br />The county has been dumplsg grubbed vegetatlou, damaged culverts, excavated AD dirt from road projects, and other consWCtlon materials ott o[ <br />the permit azea oo the west aide o[ the pIL Just for luformatloual purposes, the couuty should be aware that they may be required to obtain a <br />certlDcate of deslguatlau as au inert materials IaadDll, Iu order to Import these mateAala.
