The corrective action will be to ensure that a sufficient volume can be
procured, that it is imported and stockpiled. Once the needed volume is calculated, and
until it is moved onsite, it will be regarded as a reclamation liability to be bonded. $.2.E.
the last page for the topsoil problem corrective action date.
The south highwall of the pit, except for a minor section which extends farther south, is
still about 300 feet from the south permit boundary. Except for this southern extension,
part of whose highwall is rough graded at a 3:1 slope, the pit is mined at "phase width" to
the west. The phased operation of the pit was to include not only phased mining but phased
reclamation also. Unfortunately, attention has not been given to keeping up with the amount
of reclamation.
The bond amount, currently $38,120, is based on 32 acres of disturbance to reclaim
unreclaimed disturbance greatly exceeds that acreage, though at present that can only be
estimated. Until the operator submits an accurate survey of the present amount of
disturbance and reclamation. this office's estimate of the shortfall in bond amount must
suffice. The reclamation cost estimate will be prepared soon and sent to the operator for
review. Any reclamation that the operator can perform meantime will help influence the total
reclamation costs. At this time, there is a noted problem under the topics of general mine
plan compliance and reclamation plan compliance. Until the reclamation cost estimate is
prepared by this office, and it indicates an unbonded reclamation liability, the topic of
financial warranty will not be noted as a problem. The corrective actions for the operator
to abate the mining~lan and reclamation plan problem will be to reclaim. modify the plans.
end _(esentually) submit the rewired financial warranty increase. See the last page for the
corrective action date
There was a 30-foot scale observed in the eastern part, of the pit. It appears to be
functional and fully portable, and includes earth-filled approach ramps. Overall the site
was clean and free of weeds and debris.
There were no other items noted or discussed during the inspection. This inspector
appreciates the cooperation of the operator during the inspection.
