PROSPECTING ID # M-89-092 <br />INSPECTION DATE 8 12 98 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS CLK <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />This inspection of this 9.9 acre 110 site was conducted as part of a follow-up to a routine <br />Minerals inspection, in order to determine the Operator's future course of action. <br />1) Signs, fencing, and boundary stakes were posted as required by the Rules and the permit. <br />2) Most of tYte site is as it was during the last inspection during June 1996. The erosion has <br />not become significantly worse, due to various erosion control measures, such as the planting <br />of clover ant. shrubs along the drainage pathways and along the top of the ridge. The road has <br />been moved downward, so that there is much easier access to the sides and bottom of the pit <br />from the new road through the pit. This cutting of the slopes in half has also probably <br />contributed t:o the prevention of erosion. <br />3) Standing water in the pit appears to be due to surface water runoff, not to any <br />perceptible Groundwater interference. <br />4) The area south of the pit, a natural hill which the Operator was considering mining, has <br />not been disturbed. Previously, a letter explaining that any disturbance of that area would <br />be for purpos~~s of landscaping (and that no material would be sold from that ridge) was filed <br />with the Division. The possibility of converting this permit and adding the hill to the <br />permit area we>.s discussed, but it was decided that it would not be economically feasible.
