NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />In accordance with Rule 5.02.2(8) of the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board for Coal Mining, the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology <br />proposes to approve a Reduction in Inspection Frequency (RIF) for the Twin Pines No. 2 <br />Mine (Permit Number C-83-058). The Division is proposing to reduce the inspection <br />frequency to two complete inspections per yeaz, once in the spring and once in the fall. <br />This RIF is based on fmdings that the mine site has been stabilized and reclaimed and at <br />this time threat to the public or the environment has been minimized to the extent <br />possible. <br />The Twin Pines No. 2 Mine is an underground coal mine located in Fremont County <br />approximately ten miles southeast of Canon City, Colorado. The mine was operated by <br />Twin Pines Investment Ltd. The permit and reclamation bond for the Twin Pines No. 2 <br />Mine were revoked and forfeited, respectively, by the Mined Land Reclamation Boazd on <br />29 May 1996. The exact legal description of the mine is the SEl/4 NWll4 and the NEl/4 <br />NW 1/4 of Section 2, and the SW 1/4 NWl/4 of Section 1, Township 20 South, Range 70 <br />West on the 6`s Principle Meridian, Fremont County, Colorado. The coal interest is private <br />and the surface affected is private land. The pemut azea encompasses approximately 13.2 <br />acres. <br />Copies of the proposed decision aze on file for public inspection at the Colorado Division of <br />Mineral and Geology, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman, Room 215, Denver, Colorado, <br />80203, (303) 866-3567. Persons with an interest who maybe adversely affected by the <br />proposed decision may provide written comments on the proposed decision. Such requests <br />must be submitted to the Division, to the attention of Jim Stazk, within 30 days of the initial <br />publication of this notice, must be in writing and must state with reasonable specificity the <br />reason(s) for the request and the objection(s) to the proposed decision. <br />
